About the Object
In the spring of 2017, Nordic Choice Hotels opened two new hotels at Brunkebergs Square in Central Stockholm. At Six and Hobo are two design hotels that together have over 500 rooms, including a Presidential Suite.
The hotels include two large roof terraces with an extensive view over Central Stockholm. A variety of events are organised on the larger of the two terraces including, for example, an outdoor movie theatre. The hotels are part of the AMF Real Estate’s development of the area around “Gallerian” (a large Mall in Central Stockholm). The development project goes under the name “Urban Escape”.
How have we assisted the project?
Brandskyddslaget has been responsible for the fire safety design of At Six and Hobo. The fire safety design has been complex given that the usage has been changed from office space to hotel space and floors have been added as part of the process.
The hotels are also partially integrated with Gallerian and other businesses in the neighbouring blocks. This has meant that the fire safety has been designed both for hotel operations and other potential activities. The fire protection has, therefore, to a large degree been developed using analytical design.

About the Object
The Winery Hotel is Sweden’s first urban wine hotel, with its own production of wine at the hotel. The project included the building of a new six storey hotel plus cellar and roof terrace, covering a total floor area of 7 500 square meters.
The lower floors include a reception, conference facilities, and wine production. The upper floors include hotel rooms while the cellar hosts garage space. The top floor includes space for a gym, a roof terrace and bar, and appurtenant pool area.
How have we assisted the project?
Brandskyddslaget has helped in the whole fire safety design, from the planning stage until final handover of verified systems. Further, we have conducted a risk assessment and classification plan for flammable items, in this case pertaining to the handling of unusually large volumes of wine.
At an early stage in the project, we were also involved in assessing the risk associated with the proximity to highway E4 and other roads due to the transport of dangerous good. During hotel operations, the project was transferred to our sister company Brandtec, who provided assistance concerning systematic fire safety operations in direct dialogue with the hotel management. Brandtec also developed the evacuation plans for the hotel.

Hotell Amaranten, Stockholm

About the Object
Hotel Amaranten in Stockholm, has 461 rooms, conference facilities, a bar, gym, and spa.
How have we assisted the project?
Brandskyddslaget has over several years been the fire safety consultant employed in conjunction with changes in ownership of the Hotel Amaranten. Initially, as part of the Due Diligence process, a status evaluation of the existing fire safety was conducted.
On the ground floor, a sprinkler system was installed to facilitate the integration of restaurants and bars in the same fire cell. The hotel rooms and corridors were renovated, a new comprehensive fire alarm was installed in the whole building, and emergency lighting was replaced.
A new evacuation bridge was installed in the outer courtyard to improve and up-grade evacuation facilities. The aim was to streamline evacuation without being required to coordinate with the neighbouring properties.
