Road Tunnels

Brandskyddslaget, BSL, has extensive experience within road tunnels and has provided expertise knowledge for most of the Swedish road tunnels. During 2021-2023, Brandskyddslaget has provided risk analysis for E4 The Stockholm bypass project, acted as control unit for Götatunneln in Gothenburg, been responsible for a tunnel exercise in the Northern Link, and designed action plans for Stadsgårdstunnel in Stockholm.

Fire safety design of road tunnels is a common assignment where BSL provides CFD and evacuation calculations, fire protection of structures and design of the fixed fire fighting systems (FFFS) and emergency concepts.
BSL has acted as advisor in the aftermath of the Mont Blanc tunnel fire and has been part of investigations of accidents in Stockholm’s road tunnels.
